W D Livingston was one one the good guys at Hartman.  He may have been the best all-around baseball player.  He had a really sweet smooth swing and was a great fielder.  Softball in the 6th grade was wonderful because we had those really mushy softballs you could catch bare-handed.  His family were good people.

He was a fearlessly hard-hitting football player, too.  At this very moment I'm looking at him in a picture of the St. John's Methodist little league (must have  been "midget B") team that he and I played on.  There he is, frozen in time at 11 or 12 years old, sitting next to Len Moss and barely smiling which I think is as big as his smiles ever got, at least as I remember him: taciturn and rock solid.

Scott that was very well put.  WD was fearless, stoic and a great athelete.  Hartman produced Mike Adams --also a quiet guy who excelled in sports as well. Both passed away too young.  Loved the reference about the smooshy soft balls!  That was classic recall Scott.

W.D. played 3rd. base on our team, if my 55 years of memory challenge serve. When I was struggling on the mound and not walking batter after batter, we could count on his deft glove and strong arm to get us a reliable out from third base time and time again. Steady and dependable are the descriptive words that come to mind as I reminisce. It is good to go back to old acquaintances, even if only in the words of other long separated friends, via these relatively foggy memories, and in this sad yet respectful context.

WD had a great arm and a great bat.  We all had wonderful games together, WD was always a oneman highlight reel!  PS- Scottie, you always told me I was the ONLY "good guy" at Hartman!

WD and Len Moss in the middle. Can anyone ID the two boys to their sides? I'm pretty sure that's Bobby Koch in the front row.  He moved out of the area before high school.

For all of you who have posted, do you have a photo of him?  We are creating an In Memory video of deceased classmates and he's one of five or so who did not have a pic in any of the yearbooks.  If so, please contact me or just send digital copy.
