Emil was known as Mark Leuchter back in the day. He emigrated to Israel and was instrumental in the formation of a rock/reggae band there that enjoyed a tremendous success in the 70s. I heard from him many years ago as he was looking for information on the Suzuki method of violin instruction, for one of his children. As an accordion player, he assumed that I might know something. I didn’t—but put in a phone call to him anyway, which was not easy to do in those days. He was not available but I had a brief conversation with his wife, told her what I knew, and wished them well. Sadly, he died young. But his influence in the musical world is still remembered in Israel.

Mark was one of the first and friendliest guys I met when I was new to Southwest. He hung around with Ran Tucker. Mark is listed on Ancestry.com. deceased May 1994. Even though the KC Star never seems to have it on file, I remember reading Mark's obit with a picture. And Ran's was in the paper when I was a young newlywed late 1960's or 1970.
