Alfred J. Billings VIRGINIA BEACH - Alfred J. Billings, 59, passed away May 9, 2008. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving and compassionate man who put the needs of others before his own. His service towards others was kindled by his great love for our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. His love for his family showed in his everyday example and deeds. He served our country proudly for 22 years in the U.S. Navy before retiring to the private sector. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Susan Billings; children, Ian, Chad and Traci; seven grandchildren ages 2 weeks to 10; and his loving mother, Helen Ritchie. He was a man of great faith who leaves behind a tremendous legacy. He will be missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Princess Anne Road. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Vernal City Cemetery, Vernal, Utah.
