Douglas Rodney Drake, 65, passed away Friday, July 24 2015, unexpectedly at his home in Saint George, UT.

He was born July 26, 1949 in Ogden, UT to Alvin T. and Velma (Kerby) Drake.

Doug was raised in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School. After high school he enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War.
Doug returned to Utah after the war and had various jobs including US Air Force Reserves, Air Traffic Controller, and retail sales. Nothing made Doug prouder then serving his country.

Doug loved horsemanship, bowling, hunting, fishing and the outdoors. But nothing can quite compare to his love and passion for animals. He especially loved his dogs and spent many hours training them for field trails.

Dad is now at peace, and has crossed over the rainbow bridge where Goldie awaits and together they can run field trails once more.

Doug was preceded in death by his father and his beloved dog Goldie.

Survived by his children Tracy (Tony Minic) White, Roy, UT, Sean (Denise) Drake, West Haven, UT. He is also survived by his mother, Velma Drake; his sisters, Sherrie Martin, Layton UT, Darlene (Ben) Frint, Basin WY; and brother, Kenley (Lori) Drake, South Weber, UT; grandchildren, Marshall, Kyle, and Madison; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2015, 1pm at Evergreen Memorial Park, 100 Monroe Blvd, Ogden, Utah.

The family wishes to express a special thank you and appreciation to Kathy Hunsaker, and family, for being a longtime friend and companion.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Doug's name to the Best Friends Animal Society.
