Chad Edward Showen, 36, of Kendallville died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Garrett.  Mr. Showen was a lifetime area resident. He had worked in production maintenance at Kautex in Avilla. He was a member of the American Legion in Garrett, and was a U.S. Army veteran of Desert Storm.  He was born February 29, 1972, in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Scott and Terry (Siples) Showen. His parents survive in Kendallville.  Also surviving are a son, Greg Edward Showen of Avilla and a brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Crystal Showen of Fort Riley in Clay Center, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dale and Loma Siples and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Marion Showen.
