Emily Kay Lauer, 24, was born to eternal life on Monday, March 10, 2003, at Aurora Medical Center in Kenosha. Born in Appleton on July 29, 1978, she was the cherished daughter of David A. and Marilyn M. (nee: Mahn) Lauer. She was a lifetime resident of Kenosha.
She was a 1996 graduate of Bradford High School, a graduate of the School of Cosmetology from Gateway Technical College in Kenosha and a 2003 graduate, Cum Laude of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For the past five years, she was employed as a Hair Stylist for The Source and Marietta’s Hair Design Studio. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Congregation in Racine, Key Club at Bradford High School and a member of the Chamber Orchestra at Bradford High School and also at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She also was a Tutor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Emily is survived by: her parents, David and Marilyn Lauer of Kenosha; one brother, Matthew D. Lauer of Kenosha; two sisters, Sarah A. Lauer of Kenosha and Katherine E. (Robert A.) Stokes of West Bend; her paternal grandparents, Joseph A. and Ruth M. Lauer of Racine; and her maternal grandfather, Gilbert J. Mahn of Cocoa, FL. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, FlorenceE. Mahn. Emily is also survived by one niece and one nephew, Chelsey and Benjamin Stokes.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Emily K. Lauer will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Congregation (2023 Northwestern Ave., Racine) on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at 7:00PM. Visitation will be held at Proko Funeral Home (5111 60th St., Kenosha) on Wednesday evening from 5:00PM until 8:00PM and at Sacred Heart Congregation on Thursday from 5:00PM until 6:45PM. Parish Prayer Vigil services will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials for a scholarship fund to be set up in Emily’s name to benefit Bradford High School graduates will be appreciated.
