I am so very sorry to see the news of the passing of Nancy Lea. When I was 8 or 9 years old our family moved to the county in Kenosha and there were only a few kids out there at that time. The Axelson family, who had 3 boys, and Nancy Holland and her brother Jim, my sister and brother. Classmate Ken Axelson died this November, only about a month after Nancy. Back in those days we did not have parks or schools or anything close by so we played in our yards and fields which were plenty. We all had dogs who could pretty much run free, as did we. The city soon bought the area and today it is in the heart of Kenosha. We attended county school, Whittier for half of 4th grade and Nancy, Ken and I were part of the 6 students in our 4th grade class. We were in a room with 3rd, 4th and 5th together. When the city bought the property we had to go to city schools and started at Roosevelt. Nancy, Ken and our siblings spent much time together playing outside games like Round the Moon, Kick tthe Can, and we made a baseball field out of the next door empty lot. It was a good place to grow up. We all lived in the area together until my family moved when I was 19. Lots of changes in the area in that time period. I will forever have fond memories of Nancy. Her love of music, her faith in God, the sadness at the loss of her first husband at a young age, and the excellent care she gave to her mother until her moms' death. I am so happy Nancy met her husband Bill, and glad to know they had a wonderfill life together until her death. They put many miles and much adventure with the Honda Gold Wing they traveled on, and the friends who belonged to that group. Rest in peace Nancy, I am so glad to have known you. You certainly enriched my life, and those memories are forever.
