what about something that we can all get dressed up for? like renting a hall and getting a dj?

I like the idea of something in Kenosha (pre-party) and then a main event, or you could depending on when the game is do a ball game and then a late reception/dinner.

Kristin Negri (Beres)

I'm in Milwaukee, so am biased towards doing something in my backyard, but think it is a good idea to do something in Kenosha, since there will probably be a lot of people not able to make it outside of K-town. I think July/August would be good. If we need to reserve someplace (hall, tailgate area, or park) we might need the extra time to make a decision.

hey guys!! wow...glad so many people are on here!!!!

i think whatever we do-we have to remember the cost. our class didn't have any money put aside...and who was thinking about something 10 years down the road when you're 18??

so i think that the picnic thing is good -- i think that it is something that we could keep the cost down and then it is a relaxed atmosphere. also, the kenosha area will allow people to bring kids if they want..is that what everyone wants...kids too? or just adults??

try to get more people you know on here and on (or about) April 30th - i will get a hold of everyone who wants to help and we can meet up and get rolling on the planning. that gives us apx. 3 1/2 weeks to find some more people! :) :) :)

and get everyone's suggestion!

** anyone know the cost for pets or down by the lake? anyone know anybody at a tent rental place?? maybe we can get a hook up! (wink wink)!!!!

I like the sound of something in August.

04/08/08 01:09 PM #22

Kelly Weddel (Young)

I also like the idea of doing this in Aug. I dont think there is a cost to have a picnic at pets or down by the lake unless we are going to rent a pavilion. But I think we can just park ourselves anywhere. But i may be wrong. We could also check out Lake Andrea.

Diddo Alex. It gives more time for planning. And I don't think it's realistic to try and find a weekend that works for 300 people. In my opinion, someone, or the comittee, needs to pick a date and roll with it. I think the idea of a picnic/Brewers game would be great. Erin and I would be willing to help plan and/or get ahold of people that we don't have info on. Just let us know.

Bryanna Jurvis (Royal)

To rent a pavilion at Pets it costs $55 - $65 dollars and then $35 for a liquor license. I think it would be cool to have people bring their kids (if they want to :))! I would love for Carson to meet everyone and for everyone to meet Carson! We may even want to look into September - since everyone has so much going on in the summer.

Gianna - I would love to help so just let me know what I can do!

I feel like this thing is my new myspace!!! I can also help, what can I do. Call me or leave a message. If we want to do Pets we need to get on it because I was going to do a party there last year and the spots go fast especially the bigger ones with the electrical hookups. If that is the plan, think of getting one that is near one of the playgrounds since it sounds like people want to include our kids. Just a heads up. The park grounds also have a bigger site that is in Silver lake right around from the public beach there.

Paddock Lake also has a big area for get togethers. There is not a cost for it. It is who ever gets there first. The only bad thing is no drinking for people who would like to have a drink or two. I know I am far away but if there is anything that I can help with please let me know.

I think late in the summer is good, the only downside is that August and September are big wedding months for people around here, and a lot of people have commitments to go to/be in those as well. But I think keeping it simple works- the point is just to catch up and chat with people, it doesn't have to be anything fancy or expensive.

I like the idea of doing it at Pets Park. The thing with the baseball game is if there is a big turn out how can we get that many baseball tickets? Plus people really don' talk during baseball games. If people bring kids to whatever we plan the parents will be watching there kids and entertaining them instead of enjoying themselves. I got married last year and it was no kids allowed so the adults can socialize!

alright so i made a quick call just now. in august and september.... we can pick a game day from sunday-friday and only have to put half down for a deposit. the rest needs to be paid i'm assuming when we pick up tickets. 30 days before we can give them a final count so we would obviously over estimate in ticket count, since we can change it a month before anyway. saturdays they cant do that... we would have to pay the full amount before. basic (cheapest) ticket for a friday/saturday game is $14. i have a friend that works for miller and a friend that works for the brewers so i'll keep you posted on if i can get us a discount or anything. i was told group discounts are NOT offered in august or september.

btw: i'm willing to help with whatever so just let me know! :^)

My work has rented out the "Dew Deck" at miller park every year and that has been great. It is a sectioned off area in right field with plenty of room to sit or stand to socialize. I'm not sure if there is any weekend openings for that in August or September, but maybe we could do the game on a Thursday or Friday night without kids and then do the picnic the following Saturday and leave it up to the individuals if they want to bring their kids or not. I really like the idea of doing the park thing because that would be cheap and allow for people to engage in whatever type of activities they wish. And I am biased, but I vote to bring kids to the picnic. I think it's neat to meet everyone's entire family.

Kristin Negri (Beres)

If cost is the biggest concern, then I think Pets (or another park) is the way to go. I would still think getting it catered would be a good idea though, and there should definitely be alcohol. People can bring kids if they want and for those that want to continue the party, can go to a bar/restaurant later.

Depending on when people are meeting to help plan, I might be able to come. I'll check the website often.

Lisa Bradley (Reyes)

I agree with stephanie. I think we should rent a hall or something and get a dj, and have dinner, cause then we can all talk, or even the picnic idea sounds good, with the baseball game we won't be able to talk at all cause we'll be in our seats the whole time and it'll be too hard to get everyones money to get the tickets, thats why I think if we just rented a hall or something, then everyone can each just pay a set amount per plate , which would be much easier. I am available too if u need help with anything, just let me know

Hi all, I had a party at Pets last year for Nadia's b-day and of course there is a cost for everything!! To rent a pavilion it is $50-75.00 if we want to have anything extra you have to pay for a permit. So like if we want to have alcohol you have to get a permit and if memory serves it was $100.00 and then if you want to put up tents or one of those blow up jungle gym things for the kids that is extra too. All you have to do is call the Kenosha Parks dept and they will give you the cost and then tell you what is available, it fills up fast though. But that is the same with all the parks even the County, I think the county costs more. I am in town so I would be up for helping plan if you need it, just let me know! I think the idea is great though especially if we are going to have kids there. Then we can rent a pavilion by one of the play grounds and I think there is a volley ball net as well so we could have games going.

I like Mikes idea. At first I didn't think going to the Brewers game would be good because we would not be able to socialze, and really that is the point, but it sounds like having it in the Deck would give us some socialization and still be able to watch the game. Doing the picnic the next day would be great as well. I am very excited to see everyone's kids and meet everyone's family. But stated many times we need to pick a date/weekend! :) :)

i agree with kelly. i know we narrowed it down to august and september but maybe we should throw out a couple of weekends and see which one gets a best response. just an idea.

i love the brewer game/ deck idea.... my main concern with that is what someone else mentioned. the money situation. if we DID decide to do that, then i think we should have everyone that says they are going prepay. i dont think anyone wants to get stuck with paying other peoples tickets the weekend of. especially since people like to cancel things last minute.

I think having a picnic on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon is a great idea. It gives everyone a chance to be together, talk, meet spouses and kids, and other things. We just need to pick a weekend soon. July or August is better, since things start getting crazy in September for those who have kids in school or any teachers.

As for the Brewers game, why not just make it an option for anyone who wants to go, as I'm sure everyone will want to plan other things besides a picnic. Have a tailgate party before the game, and then split up to wherever you want to watch the game. I'll definately plan on going to a game, and anyone else who wants to join me is welcome.

As for someone mentioning no kids....I wouldn't want that. The kids should be there.

When I called to get the prices for Pets - it was $65 for a Pavilion and $35 for a liquor license. The only weekend in August where the biggest and I think best - location wise - pavilion was available was August 30th which is Labor Day weekend - however there are no Brewers games that weekend. The Brewers play home on August 23rd but there are only small pavilion's available at Pets then. I am sure we could try to find somewhere else for the Picnic but I am guessing most places are booked. If we get into September more things become available - which I understand Matt's point about school but it may be the only time to do everything in one weekend. What do people think about Labor day weekend and coming up with another idea instead of the Brewers game?

I am open for anything, I would be able to get a great discount on the food as well as kegs of beer at cost I am the manager for the Famous Daves in Pleasant Prairie, just an idea to save money, by the way if someone wants to help me control this site, cause I have been receiving about 100 email a day......

I could make you an admin so you can help me I guess there is a way to set up a survey link so we can get the information easier when it comes to picking an idea or date

I have been talking with Bryanna, what does everyones schedule look like to possibly get together and discuss plans and ideas.......

Tracy, it seems like a lot of people are willing to help. I say just throw out a time and place to get together, maybe for dinner, and see who can make it. Bryanna, do you want to check on september 6th or 7th at Pets? Monica, since you know someone that works for Miller Park, could you see how much the Dew Deck would cost and what the availability is like? I could do that too, but figured it might be better if you did since you know someone there. From looking at the responses, it seemed like many people do like the idea of a baseball game. I'm not stuck on that. And like Matt said, it could be an unofficial thing we try to do for the weekend. But if we could get the Dew Deck, it would be really sweet. Right now it looks like we could try and get that for the night of September 5th or 6th. Even if we don't get the Dew Deck, there still are other group rates and deals they do as well. I think you would have to have everyone's money in at least two weeks before the game and give your final numbers at that time.

i agree with mike. just throw out a date tracy because otherwise it will be too difficult to coordinate around everyone. i'll look into the dew deck and let you guys know!
