this whole thing was designed so people could pick and choose which days/nites would be best suitable for them to attend -and or- all of them. i am currently aware of how busy people are now-a-days and hectic it is will be to fit something into their schedule. this way they have options. as for myself i know that i dont have enough hours in the day each week, and im am still single and w/o kids atm so i sympathize with classmates with families and/or more obligations than i currently have.

what ppl are failing to realize is this is symply a 10 year reunion. we havent been out of high school that long and im sure within one or two phone calls anyone of you can inquiry and catch up with any classmate in our graduating year. that being said, in my mind there should be no reason for an elaborate ordeal. as ppl prior said no matter where it is being held 95% of you are going to group up back into your circle of friends and not mingle with people you didnt talk to back in high school.

as for the people that have helped organize this i am appreciative. none of us are getting paid for this and each of us have donating time/money of our own to make something for people to get together. does where we meet or how it is organized matter? the whole idea of reunions are to have a meeting place to talk and laugh about old times. just because its not your fantasized picture perfect setting.... does it really make that big a difference?? and will you not be allowed to reminisce with old friends due to the surroundings??

either way, no matter what is done, making the entire class happy is impossible. if anyone actually has a hard time realizing that then - look up my profile on the site, it has my email and cell #... i have broad shoulders and deal with irrate and irrational people all day at work, im sure i can handle anything anyone throws at me. - otherwise- i'm looking forward to seeing everyone and yet again thanks to everyone that has helped organize and offered to donate their time to our class.

well said. the majority(not all) of complaints came from people who only offered ideas(after the fact, and way late in the game), never offered help. you can't just rent a hall, they are booked 6 months to 2 years in advance. we are lucky to have someone like mike perkins from our class who has a space and I'm sure is spending money out of his pocket, with no guarantee that he'll ever break even. and yes it was put together last minute. and who cares? my only hope is that when I actually go to the reunion, after 10 years, the conversation the entire night isn't about how the night should've been. when did everyone start complaining like their parents.

Part of the reasoning behind doing what we did was that we had heard from people from the class of 97 that said the formal part was a waste of money and that the meet and greet was the best part of the whole weekend. That being said we figured we would go that route and keep it plain, simple, and inexpensive while trying to offer an environment where people could mingle and talk without being restricted to a sit down dinner for the majority of the night.

If anyone wants to step in and lead the effort for organizing the 15 - 20 year reunion feel free - I doubt any of us on the current planning committee would mind!

I am definitely willing to be part of next reunions solutions! I guess I came off kinda harsh in my last comment. I DO appreciate what the committee has done in such short time, I DO wish I would've done something to help. I was not informed early enough to do so- as was the prob with most peeps. So for the 15 or 20 year, provided I keep logging on to this site, I will be more helpful instead of "negative." NOBODY ANSWERED ME ABOUT THE DRESS CODE FOR TARBENDERS YET? ANYBODY?

08/04/08 04:49 PM #171

Mike Perkins

Dress Code: as far as the bar itself is concerned, there is no dress code. But since its your high school reunion and you haven't seen most of the people for a while I personally recommend looking good. not a suite and tie or anything like that but something clean and respectable looking. But like i said that's just my opinion and as far as the bar is concerned where whatever you desire.

Seriously???? I have three kids, a husband, a business and a full time job, so I hear plenty of bitching and complaining, but no where near as much as I have on this “message forum”. For those of us, myself included, who didn’t take part in planning this event, we should be thankful to those that took the initiative to plan it for us. All fancied up in a hall or laid back in jeans and a t-shirt out side under the stars (or tent), doesn’t really matter to me. I can have fun any where. It should be about the people that surround you, not the walls or the lack thereof. So, Tracy, Marcus, Mike, Gianna and the rest of you party planners, Thanks. Come find me, I'd like to buy you a drink.

Mike Perkins

thank you laura so much!! its good to see some support and believe me i'm taking you up on that (cause your hubby doesn't buy me enough drinks:) so you have to make up for it) just a small reminder we have 2 WEEKS LEFT before the reunion so if anybody knows how to get ahold of people that haven't responded to this site please let them know about the reunion so they can take part of it

I was just thinking that it might be fun if we all send in one request for a song that was around during our highschool days! It could make for a really interesting and funny night... just a thought. Is it possible for us to make requests for music?

08/10/08 08:08 PM #175

Mike Perkins

absolutely it's ok to make requests...i have over 10,000 songs and i'm going through to make sure i have all the popular songs from our high school time frame.

For our 15-20 year reunion, I think we should have a huge parade in honor of the class of 1998. We can have all of 39th Ave closed off just for us. Also, we each get our own limos for the day and we dont have to stop at any stop signs or lights. Music will be taken care of too. I got my reunion people working in shifts to get U2 to play for us and sing our praises. That's the best I can do though. Let's keep our fingers crossed that it makes everyone happy.

Nicely done Baron. A few songs off the top of my head...

Ben Folds - Brick
Any song off "The Color and the Shape" by The Foo Fighters
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
Semisonic - Closing Time

Hi everyone!

Is there any particular day or time that would be considered the "main event" of our reunion? Which part are we doing the time capsule thing? I'm still trying to make it out for the reunion, but may only have one day to be there. Has there been a large number of responses for each?

Thanks,
Mariah

I will have the time capsule available for all three events just in case you can't make it to one or the other. Remember if you are not attending email me with your address and I can see about mailing it to you.

Matthew De Witt

Mike, how about some Hangnail songs? I think they were pretty big back then. I'm sure four of our classmates could give you a little more info on them...LOL.

08/15/08 01:25 PM #187

Michael Middleton

That would be the equivilent of someone showing video's of you running cross country or something.

08/15/08 02:13 PM #188

Matthew De Witt

If those exist, I would love to see them.

I didn't think I could make the trip, but word is you guys got footage of De Witt running cross-country to Hangnail. I don't know if I can afford not to come.

Carrie Wynne (Gray)

I think it's Hangnail running cross country, and Matt playing pop-punk songs.

Right? ;)
