Classmate Update Questions
Posted Tuesday, September 28, 2010 10:10 PM

Okay, so we've all received those annoying emails.. copy the questions and paste them into a response and answer the questions to give everyone an update on what you've been up to since 1991.

What do you you do for a living?

What do you like best about your job?

Did you move away from Kenosha?

If you moved, what do you like best about the place where you live?

If you didn't move from Kenosha, what kept you in town?

How have you changed (other than appearance-ha) since graduation?

What's been the biggest event in your life since high school?

How is your life different now from what you thought it would be like when you were 18 years old?

Would you relive your high school years if you could?

What was your most embarrassing moment in high school?

What was your most memorable moment in high school?

If you could change one thing about the years since graduation, what would it be?

What do you you do for a living?  I work in Corporate Human Resources/Employee Relations at Abbott.  I counsel management and employees on conflicts in the workplace, performance improvement programs and techniques, I assist employees with implementing workplace accommodations due to disabilities/medical conditions, I provide monthly reports and metrics to the each of Abbott's different business divisions on Employee Relations case types and case volume.  I work with Abbott Legal to respond to third-party claims made against Abbott regarding employment matters.

What do you like best about your job? It's definitely not boring... it provides me with a good variety of work that allows me to use a variety of skills.

Did you move away from Kenosha? Yes, I now live in Round Lake, IL

If you moved, what do you like best about the place where you live?  I really don't like Round Lake... honestly.  I am hoping to move soon...  I really hate the traffic out here, it is horrible. However, the one good thing about Lake County is that they have some awesome Forest Preserves with small lakes, walking trials, picnic spots and parks -- that is something that Kenosha just doesn't have. It is very pretty here... for the Midwest.

If you didn't move from Kenosha, what kept you in town?

How have you changed (other than appearance-ha) since graduation? While I do still struggle with shyness in my social interactions, I really have overcome my shyness in my job. I think that is partly why I chose the line of work that I did.  I was tired of being the quiet/shy girl and I needed to push myself to overcome that...

What's been the biggest event in your life since high school? The birth of my twin daughters.  The whole experience from dealing with infertility, nearly losing them at 20 weeks, being on bedrest from week 20 to 33, having them early, then leaving them at the hospital for 3 weeks before they could come home, experiencing the elimination of my job in a Reduction in Force 2 weeks after my girls were born (yep, while they were still in the hospital -- the very same I was just let go from).  It was a life-event that I shall never forget.

How is your life different now from what you thought it would be like when you were 18 years old? I guess I never thought I would move away from Kenosha.  I never imagined I would have twins... that's for sure!

Would you relive your high school years if you could? I would -- only to give myself another shot at doing things a lot differently... I worked so much in high school, so I didn't study much, didn't do homework often and rarely socialized outside of school.  I often wonder how my life would be different had I "applied myself" as my mother always told me I didn't.....

What was your most embarrassing moment in high school? Tripping up the stairs to give my speech for Sophomore Class Secretary in front of the whole class...

What was your most memorable moment in high school? Probably making the cast of 42nd Street.  It was my aspiration to be in the musicals, so it was a personal achievement that I will always remember....

If you could change one thing about the years since graduation, what would it be? I wish I had kept in touch with more of my friends/classmates from school...

What do you you do for a living?  I have worked for the same mortgage company- under different names for the past 13 years.  I started out as a mortgage Closer, then was moved to the Closing Manager position-both jobs in Gurnee IL.  After my daughter was born, an opening for a closer came up in Kenosha, so I took it, leaving behind my managerial duties of 6 years.  After almost 2 years in that position, I was laid off due to the economy.  I was hired back a month later, back in Gurnee as a Post Closer, at less pay-of course!

What do you like best about your job?  I really like the friends that I have made in the last 13 years-we've all been through it all together.  The job itself?  Not much.  I am actively looking for a new job, so PLEASE keep me in mind!!  Nothing like selling yourself on a reunion website!  :)

Did you move away from Kenosha? Nope- still here.

If you moved, what do you like best about the place where you live?

If you didn't move from Kenosha, what kept you in town? When my husband and I met he was living in Milwaukee, and I really did not want to live there.  I love that Kenosha is in the middle of Milwaukee and Chicago-and we get both tv stations!  I am now starting to rethink and may be broading my scope of places to live- but not too far.

How have you changed (other than appearance-ha) since graduation? I'm still the non serious person in social situations, but I feel I am very strong-almost to a fault sometimes.  I am very stubborn and set in my ways-kind of like an old person.  I like to have fun, but for all the times I wished I could have gone out in high school while not able to, I now enjoy just sitting back at home or in a relaxed environment.  And I HATE dancing!  Don't know how I did it at the school dances, but I am not a fan!  Slow dancing only.

What's been the biggest event in your life since high school? Cliche- but definitely getting married and having my daughter.

How is your life different now from what you thought it would be like when you were 18 years old? When I was 18, I thought that in 10 years I would be married with at least 2 kids.  Then life sank in.  It's not always easy finding "the one" and once you do, adulthood kicks your butt!  You start thinking about the what ifs and how can we's.  It's not always as easy as it seems, life is a lot of hard work.

Would you relive your high school years if you could? Yes, but I would hope that I am the way I am now, as opposed to before.  Definitely would not take the people and the time for granted.  And stick up for myself more, loosen up, have fun and not worry about other people so much.

What was your most embarrassing moment in high school? Too many to name.  Probably a lot that were in my head, that I saw, but no one else was paying attention to.

What was your most memorable moment in high school? I remember when we did senior skits- I was SOOO nervous.  So much in fact that all I wanted to do was to introduce the skits at the beginning.  I only had to be on stage for 30 seconds, but I swore I was going to puke!  But once I got out there, I LOVED it!  Wished I had more time out there.  Somone in the crowd yelled something, I have no clue who or what.  But I yelled back to shut up.  Afterwards someone told me that if the principal had not been out that day, I would have been in trouble.  What a rebel!!  :)  I also remember an incident with Sr Honora- but after all these years, I don't know what was truth and what was enbellished!! I need Frank Clark to help me remember that one.

If you could change one thing about the years since graduation, what would it be? I hate to admit it, but I wish I had gone to college and taken it seriously.  Wish I had taken advantage of my parents when I could.  I went to Gateway for a bit, but did not want to be there and did awful.  Now, as much as I would like to go back, I don't have the time, or money.  If your kids ever need this lecture, feel free to send them my way!  :)

What do you you do for a living?  I work for Wells Fargo Bank doing computer security (mostly mainframe) and creating user access. In the past couple of years I've gotten very lucky with my job as we aquired Wachovia Bank which then gave me the position of heading up the project team to convert all the Wachovia branches to Wells Fargo.

What do you like best about your job? It changes from day to day and has also given my family great opportunities to volunteer for some great organizations and the ability to not only work from home but also anywhere in the US and 3 other countries. We're actually considering trying out North Carolina.

Did you move away from Kenosha? Yes and now currently live in Gilbert, AZ by way of NY and NJ.

If you moved, what do you like best about the place where you live?  The sun is shining 360 days a year. It always feels like you're on vacation. Although, the summers do get a tad warm but I will never miss the freezing cold.

If you didn't move from Kenosha, what kept you in town?

How have you changed (other than appearance-ha) since graduation? I never thought I'd have children or ever get married.

How is your life different now from what you thought it would be like when you were 18 years old? I assumed I'd 'fly by the seat of my pants' and be a free spirit and hoped someone would leave me lots of money! Instead, I'm the mother of two teenagers and soon to be a foster parent and wouldn't change a thing.

Would you relive your high school years if you could? If I didn't actually have to go to school, sure. If I could just relive those years outside of St Joe's, I would in a heartbeat.

What was your most embarrassing moment in high school?  I was in the lunch line totally zoning and my thoughts were elsewhere as I'd just given Travis Stoner a note asking him to Winter Formal and was FREAKING OUT) and apparently I was staring at a senior girl (she will remain namless) and she turned to her friend and said "look at her staring at me. Maybe she's wishing some of my hotness will rub off on her". I wanted to die!! Needless to say, I didn't get that stupid 25 cent cookie I really wanted lol

What was your most memorable moment in high school? Anatomy class. For some reason, I remember this like it was yesterday. I had a jar of formaldehyde and I was bringing it to the sink when I ran into Scott Sandberg and accidently spilled a few drops on his brand new red addidas tennis shoes. I can still hear the ass chewing I got for that one.

If you could change one thing about the years since graduation, what would it be? I would have moved from Wisconsin a lot sooner.
