Steve and I were the stars of 3rd, 4th, and 5th year Spanish which was 10th, 11th and 12th years of high school. We started Spanish In 3rd year, thus 10th grade, Mrs Zehring was our 10th grade Spanish teacher; she took us aside and asked us to stop raising our hands in class when we knew the answers to her questions. She said that all the other students who raised their hands would drop their hands when they saw Steve and me raise ours. Steve and I did hang out together a lot that year. Actually, we met in 7th grade. We both played string bass in the orchestra. I was 3rd chair and Steve was 4th chair. He liked being different. All of us bass players used a French bow, but Steve chose to use a German bow. I wish we had kept in touch, but our lives went in different directions. I had gone into the US Navy at 18 and Steve went to college. He finished college and got a job with Snap On. I finished my tour in the Navy, and then I came out as gay. So, after that our lives did not cross again, for which I am so sorry.
Steven D. Mosher, 61, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at his residence.
Steven was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Feb. 4, 1956, to the late Delbert and Cordelia (Johnson) Mosher. On Nov. 7, 1981, he was united in marriage to Denise Freitag.
He was a graduate of Tremper High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's degree from UW-Madison and his Masters from UW-Parkside. Steven had been employed for 36½ years at Snap-on Tools as the Director of Worldwide Industrial Contract Administration and Operations until his retirement in 2014.
Steven was a member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He was passionate about cooking and perfected creating pizza from scratch. He also enjoyed reading, golf, and traveling. But most of all, his greatest love was his family.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 35 years, Denise; his daughters, Kathleen Mosher of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Stephanie (Thomas) Wienke of Albertville, Minn.; his brother, Gregory (Karen) Mosher of Blaine, Minn.; sister, Pamela Mosher of Kenosha; as well as many loving extended family members and friends.
