UPDATE

Charlie's family offered some insight into what led to his passing. For some time, he had been treated for a heart condition. In the end, he died peacefully in his sleep.

All those who knew Charlie said he was a kind and generous person, dedicated to his wife and family as well as to the community. I remember him at Marin Catholic as a quiet and pleasing fellow, and later in life, he and Joanne truly enjoyed attending our reunions. He and his wife told us they so looked forward to visiting classmates and dancing the night away. In fact, if memory serves, they were usually among the last to leave.

Charlie will be missed.

Went through St Anselm's and MC with Charles. Always a nice person. At reunions I enjoyed catching up with his  life and what he and Joanne were up to. He was a very devoted husband. Father and grandfather. What in life is more important than that? He had life in prospective.  A wonderful person who will be missed by many.

My sympathy to Joanne, family and friends.

Charlie and I met at Marin Catholic and became good friends. I remember spending a lot of time at his house in San Anselmo, where there was always something going on with Charlie and his seven siblings.

He was just a really nice guy, fun to be with. We had a lot of fun times in both high school and at USF.

Charlie and Joanne settled in the East Bay and I was in Petaluma, so we only saw each other at reunions. But the reunions happened every five years (thank-you Joe, Melodie, and friends) and we always sat together and caught up on what was new.

At last reunion Charlie talked about having some health concerns but was in good spirits. I am glad that I will remember him as he was that night.

Charlie and I first met at St. Anselm's grammar school when I enrolled in the 8th grade. Having just moved from San Francisco, where no one had more than one or two children, I was amazed to meet his large family of ten siblings!  What a wonderful, loving family, so devoted to each other.

We would always reconnect at reunions and had recently heard from him expressing his and Joanne's wishes to definitely get together at the next reunion and catch up on children, grandchildren, etc.

Charlie remained a good friend throughout high school and college. He was a man of unique character, integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. He was very devoted to his wife and family.

He will be missed greatly and  feel so blessed to have known him.

My deepest sympathies to Joanne and her family.

Carole
