Nancy Phillips' daughter, Jenna Witcher, is a Music Therapist @ Voices Together.

Hello! I am Jenna Witcher, Nancy Phillips Witcher’s youngest daughter. I live in Durham, North Carolina and work as music therapist at Voices Together. At Voices Together, we hold a psycho-education model to music therapy. We hold weekly sessions throughout the Triangle area, including six different school districts for special education classrooms. In these sessions, we have a specific session outline that focuses on speech and language skills, emotional expression goals and social skills goals. Throughout the year, I see children and adults grow to advocate for themselves, speak about tough situations and make new friends.

In addition to our weekly music therapy sessions, I hold two different inclusion choruses in the Durham school district entitled, Voices For All. These groups come together after I meet with chorus teachers who are interested in inclusion. The school choruses and my therapy groups come together once a month to work on songs and more importantly, to make new friends and build new horizons. At the end of the year, both groups break down their barriers and create a new understanding for different types of people. Here is a link to our first inclusion chorus at Riverside High School: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eJcO0WtrJo

I also am the co-director of the Voices Together Singers. This group is formed of various individuals throughout the Triangle with disabilities. The goal of this group is to have a choir that performs throughout North Carolina. The Voices Together Singers' mission is to reach out to the community, increase awareness of the talents of people with developmental differences and to share our music in uplifting and enriching performances. We have performed at the North Carolina Symphony, the Durham Bulls baseball games and the North Carolina Conference for Exceptional Children.
