Patricia Bigby Lexie was killed in November 1991 as she drove on Washington, D.C.'s Anacostia Freeway. A thug well known to the police drove up and shot her at random as she rode in the car with her husband. If you knew Pat, you'll no doubt remember her angelicly beautiful face, her big smiles and the dimples that went with them. It makes her murder by a 19-year old who didn't know her all the more senseless. Pat's passing spawned a whole lot of soul-searching in Washington, as it should have, but sadly over time very little change. Thinking about it even now breaks my heart. Pat, nearly 20 years after your passing, we still mourn your loss and celebrate the contact--however brief--we had with you in life.

Thanks for this update Clyde. What a remarkable tragedy! My heart aches. Pat was so precious and so beautiful in body and soul. I thank God I had the chance to witness her life if only briefly. May God be praised for His great love to us.

TRULY AN ANGEL. PAT WAS ONE OF THE SWEETEST PERSON YOU COULD MEET. HER BROTHER SAID IT BEST AT HER FUNERAL SERVICE, GOD PLUCKED ONE OF HIS MOST BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. PAT ONCE BEAT ME IN A SPELLING BEE. THE WORD WAS THEATER. MISS YOU PAT AND I KNOW YOU ARE RESTING IN PEACE. SO SAD.

Pat and I were good friends starting in the fourth grade. Shortly before she passed away I had the pleasure of visiting with her and her husband, Freddie. I will never forget ta few days before she died we talked on the telephone. She stated that she was just calling up some of her friends to see how we were doing. This was a senseless death. I do hope that the idiot that shot her is still serving his time.
