I remember Doug's terrific smile that seemed to go from ear to ear.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family in their loss.  Gone to soon.

I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing.  I am one of many that "loved" Doug.  All the girls wanted to be his girlfriend!  He was such a fun, loving guy.  I don't think I saw him after graduation but that doesn' mean he was forgotten!   May God bless your family with a peace beyond understanding in the days ahead.  You are in my thoughts and prayers!   Beth Vance Frack

Wow, Doug's life was so short. I remember his beautiful smile. It could light up a room. I only went to school with him 2 years but I felt like I knew him forever. That was just how Doug was, so pleasant. I am so sorry Tom, Betty and family for your loss. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Reading the memory's from other EF classmates, I noticed that most everyone says something about Doug's smile!  He did have a huge smile and the personality that went with it!  He was also great looking, as all the girls remember.  He signed my yearbook on the Future Farmers of America page, and under his picture he wrote "A true farmer.  Remember to plant a tree in 73"!  What a nut!  I am truly sorry for the loss of your son, brother, and father.  He made a difference in a lot of peoples lives.

When remembering my classmates, I remember Doug as always happy and joking around. He had a wonderful laugh and made us laugh along with him. We were lucky to have him in our lives, even though the time was too short. My condolences are with his family and loved ones.

Sorry I have lost track of friends like Doug! what a tremendous competitor! I'm sure he fought hard with that huge love for life that he had! My memories of  Doug center around wrestling (we were co-captians senior year) and his TR-6 (he loved that car) and Halloween in Kville! Seems like Curtis and I have similar memories (imagine that)!  I will always remember that infectious smile!  My prayers go out to all his family! We will all miss Doug!

Doug was one of my best friends, and I tried a long time to find him, but never did.

Len Tucker and I used to hang out at his house and play guitars and laugh the nights away. His laugh and spirit were both infectious, and if you were lucky enough to count him among your friends, you were lucky enough to have one of the best.

I ran into Doug one day in the guidance councelor's office and he was thumbing through a catalog of all the colleges and universities in the US. As seniors, we were entitled to a "college day" where we could go visit a campus and be granted an excused absence. He randomly chose Centinary College in Shreveport, LA and looking at each other for only a moment, we both said "Let's go!" We convinced Fred Lewis that we were dead set on attending this college and he granted us a 3-day leave - though I know he didn't really believe us. The next evening we left my house in Sedge Garden in Doug's TR6 with the top down headed for Shreveport. Man, did we have a great time! On the way home, we stopped in Vicksburg, Miss. and visited the Civil War battleground. We had about $30 left between the two of us, and spend $12 of that on "CSA" replica belt buckles.  I still remember that trip like it was last week.

My last memory of him was our graduation beach trip to Myrtle, with the rest of the "Jewish Brothers". It was a fitting farewell I suppose to a friendship that would remain in my heart forever.

God bless him and his family.

I can't begin to tell you how much the letters, phone calls, emails and prayers have meant to me and my mother, Ms. Betty. It has truly been remarkable, because we have not lived in the Kernersville area  for over 35 years. I do want to take the time to say "Thank You" for the out poring of love, old stories, affection and prayers for my "Little Brother"........ I miss him already. Thanks, Tom & Ms Betty
