Message from Butch's wife:

Amos(Butch) Griffin loved family and lived each day with knowing the Lord was his Shepherd. He enjoyed baking, photography and gardening. Butch had a love for racing. He fought a strong fight with his illness, but found relief in reading and reciting quotes from the book of Job. Butch often quote Job13:15 , Though He slay me yet will I trust Him.

As with most of my classmates I haven't seen them since high school.  I knew Butch as a young hand and he was a fun loving  acquaintance who would literally come to your aid if you needed him. May he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

Butch, as his friends all called him was a fun and loving person. I know he will be truly missed by his family and all that knew him. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.To all that loved him I express my heartfelt sympathy for it is truly a great loss for his many friends.

Very sadden by Butch's death... He was my "BESTEST" of friends and like a brother to me and my family... We did everything together in grade school, jr. high and high school... Wow just a little shocked reading that he passed... But our God makes no mistakes and over the last several years Butch and I reconnected and Butch confirmed his faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ... RIP my brother in Christ Jesus.... God bless my brother's family...

Butch was indeed a memorable classmate. We didn't spend a lot of time together but I knew and respected his place in our East Winston culture. Coming to East Forsyth from Atkins was made easier by his confidence and leadership at school and the community. So good to know that his relationship with Christ was in tact. I'll see him again. Praise the Lord.
