Philip Ray Deans Jr.

MIDDLESEX — Philip Ray Deans Jr., 50, of 4815 Denton Road, Middlesex, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005.

The funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, at Bailey United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Leonard Rex. Interment will follow at Spring Hope Memorial Gardens, Spring Hope.

Ray was a member of Bailey United Methodist Church. He was employed by the Nash County Sheriff's Department for 11 years, a member of Mount Pleasant Rescue Squad for 18 years and currently working at Wake Medical Center, Critical Care Transport. He was also a member of the N.C. Fire and Rescue Association.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Kennedy Deans of the home; two daughters, Leslie Ann Deans Cochran and husband, Christopher Tyler Cochran, of Middlesex, stationed in Iraq, and Martha Gray Deans of Middlesex, stationed in Iraq, and fiancé, Christopher Thomas Wharton of Raleigh. He is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis D. and Donnie Whitley of Rocky Mount and Wanda D. and Dale Williams of Spring Hope; and granddaughter, Audrey Elizabeth Cochran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Ray Deans Sr. and Lula Whitley Deans.

The family will receive family and friends today at Bailey United Methodist Church, 6:30-8:30 p.m., and other times at the home, 4815 Denton Road, Middlesex, N.C.
