Eddy was always friendly. And, as I later learned (Isn't it always "later" when we learn?), there was more behind that smile than we suspected. I remember riding my bike up Willard Road and Ridgewood Road on the way to Glenn for summer drivers' ed classes. Eddy showed up on his bike on Ridgewood Road. Same Eddy, in school or out of school! Same friendly demeanor! Why didn't more of us more closely befriend Eddy? Why didn't I? Rest well, my friend! I hope to see you again.

Alan you are right about Eddy. He was a kind, quiet soul. We should have paid more attention; that is our loss. Why did we not pay attention to a few more of the quiet souls amongst us?  Well, we were busy, just too busy being 17. Being 17  takes a lot of energy. At that age, we are just sneakers and hormones, even part of our brain has not quiet developed yet. But, surely our hearts had developed by then so, why indeed?

Let's make a deal, the first one in heaven sits down with Eddy and has a nice long talk. We will have all the time to just sit and listen to him...and make a new friend.

I would like to think at this stage in our life our brains have finally fully developed and our hearts are in the right place.
