Kevin ("Ace") Hiatt was and will always be remembered for his caring and fun personality.  He was responsible for making my junior year at East an easier experience.  He always had something to say to lift everyone's spirit when we had bad days.  I hope he was as peaceful as possible and am glad to hear that his family was with him.  My condolences to the family.  You will be missed, Kevin.

I remember Kevin's smiling face around the halls of East Forsyth!  Although I didn't know Kevin well, he was always a person that brought a smile to my face and warmth to my heart!  You will be missed!!!

Ace was a great friend to me in many ways both at Glenn Junior High and at East Forsyth.

I recall going to Wake Forest's Grove stadium to see a NFL exhibition game with Joe Namath's NY Jets vs Carl Eller's Minnesota Vikings, August 1969 (?).

I still have the Beatle's "Let It Be" album he surprisingly insisted I have.

Most of all, in November 1971, I was sixteen but didn't have my drivers license yet. I wanted to ask Paige Lauten to go a first date to see Three Dog Night at Winston Salem Memorial Coliseum. Paige and I did get to go on the our first date because Kevin picked us up in his car (along with Rick Ward). Our Old Fashioned Love Song is still playing thanks to Kevin's willingness to be our chauffeur that night. We will celebrate our 40th  wedding anniversry in August.

Thank you my friend, rest in peace.

I had alot of fun times with Kevin. One of my best camping/fishing trips ever was with Kevin and Larry Bullin to Wilson creek in Mortimer. All three if us were in our early 30's and stressed with demands of young adulthood. We had a blast.

I did attend Kevin's funeral yesterday and was moved by his two children's love for him. There were about 8 of his old high school buddies there. He was a good person.
