Douglas Elwood (Woody) Clifton



Douglas “Woody” Elwood Clifton, Jr., 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
Woody was born on December 20, 1955 in Forsyth County to the late Douglas Elwood Clifton, Sr. and Ruby Mae Blackburn. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church but also attended Freedom Baptist Church. Woody enjoyed frisbee golf, NASCAR racing, and racing at Bowman Gray Stadium with the Clifton Racing team. Woody also enjoyed helping his mother work in her flower beds, and loved his family, especially his kids and grandkids. He was employed by Clifton Plumbing and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents, Woody is preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Clifton.
Woody is survived by two children, Kristi C. Riggins (Joey), and Adam Clifton (Mary), three sisters, Elaine C. Reich (Henry), Debbie Brown (Perry), and Billie Phipps (Don), one brother, Tommy Clifton, and eight grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service at 7 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Burroughs Chapel, with Pastor Frank Shumate officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Burroughs Funeral Home.
