Mike Mercurio passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2007 in Oxnard, CA where he lived with his wife, Amy, and their children, C.W. and Brooke.

After graduating from Alter, Mike attended Bowling Green State University and graduated with a degree in Finance. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine. He received his certification in Endodontics from the University of Southern California and then established his Endodontics practice in California.

Annually, Mike would travel to Romania to provide dental treatments to orphans in need through the Heart of Hope Ministeries and he received the Rotarian of the Year Award due to these efforts.

In Mike's memory, Michael's Fund has been established to provide children's advocacy services for abused children in Greene County.
