What is your favorite High School memory? (friendships, achievements, teachers, activities, etc.)

Favorite memories... Senior trip to Great America up near Chicago, teachers who invested so much of themselves in us, the mini-courses between semesters -- especially bowling and ping-pong, having the substitute teacher play MTV videos instead of classwork, friendships.

What is your least favorite memory of High School?

Besides that totally embarrassing and terrible senior picture, my least favorite memory is probably my first day of school... and maybe my entire freshman year. Having moved across the country and coming from a very small private school, my first day of public high school was thoroughly intimidating and bewildering. Life definitely improved progressively from there.

What did you always want to do that you haven't done yet?

Become a teacher

Famous or Interesting people you have met?

I always enjoy meeting authors of books I've read but probably no one else has ever heard of: Anne Lamont, David Sedaris, Barry Moser, Rob Bell, Margaret Feinberg, Luci Shaw etc.

What would we be surprised to know about you 20+ years later?

I'm not quite sure what would be surprising to other people. But I'm personally surprised that I've gotten to do as many things in my life that I've done... that I've traveled as much as I have... that I've gotten to meet and know as many wonderful people and friends that I have... that I've been able to see and hear amazing art and music... that I've had a far less conservative life than I -- and my geeky senior picture -- would lead people to expect.

I guess I am very grateful for each day and experience I have -- and I am very grateful for where I came from and where I grew up. I have always considered Kewanee my home even though I only lived there during my four high-school years. I can't imagine a more wonderful place to begin to learn about the world.

Okay... enough with the cheesy thoughts...
