Ahhhh...

It was just a routine day in Mr Hager's sixth grade classroom. If you went to North, and had Mr Hager, you understand. For some reason, that particular morning, Adrienne Davis and I had alot to talk about... or at least it seemed that way. Well...Mr Hager did not appreciate the fact that whatever we were discussing just couldn't wait until we got home. He promptly sent us out into the hall and uttered those seven words, " Don't come back until you finish talking"!

Now, he should have known that 12 year old girls never finish talking but apparently, he didn't. (Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he only had sons). Well, Adrienne and I went to morning break from the hall, we went to lunch from the hall, we even went to recess/PE from the hall. Periodically throughout the day, Mr Hager would come out and ask us if we were finished talking... and of course we said "NO"! At the end of the day, we went home, from the hall.

You see, I remember that day very well, because it resulted in both of us getting one of the worst whippings we ever got in our lives!You see, Mr Hager, lived in the same neighbor hood as us, he knew both of our parents, "really well" and apparently he called them at some point that evening and relayed to them that we had spent the entire day in the hallway because of our talking.

For the record... I never got sent into the hall for talking ever again after that!

Mr. Hager had that monster paddle, too. I can remember him tearing our butts up many times for the simplest transgression. Me, Rusty Baumgarder, Barry Ledford, many more.

My Mom bent me over in front of the whole class in 4th grade and put the wood to my rear. I can still hear her "Don't, (POW) You, (POW) Ever (POW) Do, (POW) That, (POW) Again, (POW)... Do, (POW) YOU, (POW) UNDERSTAND? (POW)... (POW)"

And of course when I turn and said "Is that all you got?" I knew I would get the a second dose when I got home from school.
