Mr. Arthur Eugene "Coy" Odems McCoy completed his journey here on earth, Thursday, June 8, 2006 at Kings Mountain Medical Center, in Kings Mountain, NC.

He was born June 22, 1961. He was the son of Willie Mae Burkins Odems and the late Arthur Junior McCoy and a native of Sharon, SC.

McCoy was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cherryville. He was formerly employed with Metals America. McCoy was a 1979 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and also served in the U. S. Navy. He was an easygoing person who enjoyed fishing and sports and was a person who tried to do anything that was asked of him.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Edward Junior Odems; his paternal grandparents, Cleveland and Ruth McCoy and his maternal grandparents, Willie and Clara Burkins.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 12 years, Alice Hamilton McCoy; his mother, Willie Mae Odems of Kings Mountain; three sons, Menual Hamilton and Derrell Hamilton both of Shelby, NC and Derrick Watkins of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Anja McCoy of Shelby; five grandchildren, Ty, Angel, Al'ice, Kierra and Derrick Jr.; six aunts, five uncles; two great-aunts, one great-uncle; six sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; two uncles who were like brothers, Ronnie Burkins of Columbia, SC and Donnie Burkins of Winston-Salem, NC and a first cousin who was like a sister, Ella Brown of York, SC and a host of relatives and friends.
