April 19, 1960 - March 16, 2002

KINGSPORT, TENN. - Ms. Sandra Marie Hoard, 41, 223 Carver Street, Kingsport, Tenn., departed this life to be with her Lord Saturday, March 16, 2002, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Sandy was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and continued her education at ETSU where she received her Bachelors Degree in Home Economics and her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Sandy was a member of Central Baptist Church and was well known throughout the area for her tireless efforts in church and community activities including Director of Christian Education, Director of Youth Education, Usher Board and active in Sunday School where she taught for 20 years.She served on various committees including the Stokley Scholarship Committee and Riverview Catch the Vision Committee.She was also a member of the National Education Association, Tennessee Education Association and Sullivan County Education Association.

She was employed by Sullivan County School System and taught at Sullivan South High School where she was advisor to the Family Career and Community Leadership Association as well as a member of the National Vocational Education Association, Tennessee Vocational Education Association and Sullivan County Vocational Education Association.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Mr. William H. (Billy) Hoard; paternal grandparent, the Rev. William H. and Mrs. Nellie B. Hoard; and maternal grandparents, Mr. Ernest and Mrs. Dennie B. Ford.

Sandra Hoard, 42, who taught early childhood development and culinary arts at Sullivan South for more than a decade, died March 16.
