-------------------------------------

Mr. Steve Allen Jones, departed this life on October 2, 2015. Mr. Jones was born on March 3, 1960 at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, TN, to Mts. Icey B. Jones and the late Mr. Nathan Jones.

At birth, Mr. Jones was named after his uncle, the late Steve Allen. Steve graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1979 where he was considered one of the most outstanding football players. However, his aspiration as a professional football player was cut short when he suffered a head injury during practice. Even with this setback, Steve continued to remain optimistic about life. He had a fun-loving way about him all of his life. He never complained about how life had dealt him a set-back. Even to the end, he remained a “kid at heart” and played numerous pranks on his family and friends. That personality and spirit he exuded will certainly be missed.

Steve was employed by the Chop House Restaurant, Kingsport, TN, where he worked alongside his sister, the late Eula Jones.

Steve accepted the Lord at the age of twelve. He was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church by the late Reverend James B. Gaines. When he was at church, he was quiet and funny with those who knew him and tended to sit closer to the back of the Sanctuary. Steve cherished the Bible that was given to him by his daughter Nikita.

Steve was formerly married to Cathy Bowman by whom he had two children-Nathan and Nikita Jones.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Nathan Jones, his older brother, Nathan Lee Jones, and his sister, Eula B. Jones.

Steve is survived by his mother, Mrs. Icey B. Jones; his children, Nathan and Nikita Jones, and Jasmine and Stephen Carr; his grandson, Noah Jones; siblings: Mrs. Mary (Charles) Carmon, Rolax(Barbara) Jones, Eddie “JJ” Jones, Mrs. Annie(Paul) London, Mrs. Clara (Alvin) Lewis, Jerry (Vivian) Jones, James A.
