Your 9-5: are you happy? Posted Thursday, April 16, 2009 12:23 PM hey crew. soo...are you happy with your current profession? i know not many of us are in a position to make career changes with the the current status of the economy and whatnot...but recession aside - are you happy doing what you do? i left teaching because i wasn't fulfilled. most of you know that i LOVE music and anything related to it. that's my passion. teaching afforded me no time to really work on that because i was always grading papers and assignments or creating assignments and tests or going to meetings and whatnot. what i'm finding in my new job is that i'm afforded the time to do some of the things that i want to do, but i took a pay cut from teaching to take this position - so there's another element in the way. pay aside, my current job is cool, but it's still just a job. what i'm finding with most people is one of two extremes: either they're happy doing what they do but aren't making the money to do it, or they're making the money but are so stressed with responsibility and lack of time that they can't really "do" what money affords them to do. what are your thoughts about this with respect to where you are professionally? |

RE: Your 9-5: are you happy? Posted Tuesday, April 21, 2009 08:19 AM I was wondering Sarena...what is the name of the center you currently work at. I do childcare on a part-time basis.

RE: Your 9-5: are you happy? Posted Thursday, April 30, 2009 10:19 AM I am very happy with my job, I can't complain and I won't complain because I could be without a job! Also, I love mentoring children, there are a lot of them out there that need responsible people to talk to that will tell them the right thing other than their parents. I have been doing this job now for 5 years, it has given me patience that I didn't have with children before, because you have to be careful what you say to them when they get on your nerves lol! I did hair for about 12 years and it had it's ups and downs and with the economy the way it is people are not getting their hair done as much as they use to because of financial stress. Although, my passion is hair I am happier with the career choice that I have now! |
