For a second you were flying
Like you always wanted to
Now you’ll fly forever
In skies of azure blue
We’ll see your smile in every ray
Of sunshine after rain
And hear the echo of your laughter
Over all the pain
The world’s a little quieter now
The colours have lost their hue
The birds are singing softly
And our hearts are missing you
Each time we see a little cloud
Or a rainbow soaring high
We’ll think of you and gently
Wipe a tear from our eye

The song “Only the Good Die Young” comes to mind as I reflect on the loss of our dear class mate Gino. We shared so many great memories from our formative years in KHS bands and choruses  all the way to college. When I in NCA&T Marching Band traveled to Spartan Nation at Norfolk State where Gino was a band member during our Freshman year.  Hanging out and performing against one another at half time to the food fight in the cafeteria after the game. I always knew you were musically talented and would use this gift that God gave you. I admired that about you. You always chased your dreams and loved what you were doing. Now take a bow for a job well done. RIP Gino. You will be missed.

May the love of Christ, family and friends sustain the family as you prepare to transition without the physical presence of your loved one. While here on Earth Tony gave us all wonderful memories which will help to ease the pain of his sudden passing. Now our goal while here on earth is to live a life worthy of being able to reunite with Tony one day in glory. God bless.

Hello KHS 79 family, just wanted to take a moment to express my deepest smpathy for the loss our beloved and very talented classmate and my musical buddy/band leader Tony Gino Speight. He was certainly a catalyst for my professional music career hooking me up with groups such as the Tams and the Drifters. He was truly a talent that deserves to be heard by all. He surely will be missed. May God continue to bless his very talented children Tony, Tabitha, Tiffany, Michael, and his lovely and devoted wife Bea. ---Mike Bell

I spoke to God last night I saw the largeness and greatness of his light, but he spoke to me of land and sea and how earth hungered to replace it's bread-man he even said some great and beautiful thing about the dead, then God opened inner doors of happiness where grapes melted to instant wine, where rocks bled honey and youngness was the symbol of the time- and on a shore I saw a tree of lips blooming and bluebird with David's eyes .... and on another shore- yes, there... I saw his foot prints as lost my mind in the wild grape vines of heaven.

For my old friend and high school buddy Tony Speight "RIP" dear brother --- Noah "Pooh" Powell

Gino, your leaving us so suddenly took my breath away. You have blessed hundreds of thousands of people with your music. Now, you can bless Heaven with your music. Rest in Peace dear, it will seem but a moment before we all join you.
