Steven J. Hunneke, 45, of 1901 Cambridge Drive died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, while visiting in Asheville. Steve was an alumnus of the Dwight Englewood School in Englewood, N.J., the Asheville School for Boys in Asheville, Kinston High School, Appalachian State University and the Culinary Institute of America, Upstate New York. Survivors include his parents, Anneliese and Fred Hunneke of the home; his son Morgan Chance Hunneke of Asheville; sister Lisa H. Lewis and husband Luther and nephew Colby, all of Dover; three brothers, Bill Hunneke and wife Sylvia of Greenville, Gunnar Hunneke of Malibu, Calif,. and Jose A. Suarez and wife Regina of Bergenfield, N. J.; niece Regina and husband Mike Pepe of Oakland, N.J.; and special friend Robyn Deffenbaugh of Newport. As requested by Steve, his remains are being donated for medical research. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at First Presbyterian Church.
