Vicky E. Hurst of East Boston passed peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness. She was 69 years old.

The daughter of the late Betty M. Hurst and The Rev. Dr. Wm. G. Hurst (and his wife Mary Lou) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Vicky was a retired Chartered Life Underwriter for New England Mutual Life Insurance Company.  An active member of the East Boston Chamber of Commerce for many years, she served as both secretary and President in the 1980s and 1990s.  She enjoyed writing poetry and children’s stories and had been a faithful member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Winthrop for many years.

Vicky will be missed by her brother, Michael and sisters Susan, Jennifer, and Carol.  She was especially devoted to her nephew, Jim, and nieces: Julie, Ann, Michelle, Rachel, Liz, Sarah, Betsy, and Julia. 

Vicky touched the lives of many people including great friends she made in her various residences in Somerville and East Boston, as well as the many care-givers and doctors who assisted her throughout her lengthy and wide-ranging medical challenges.
