Beth Wilson (Allen)

Beth Wilson Allen, 75, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her home in Kittery. She was born on July 19, 1949, to Jefferson “Luke” Wilson and Marie “Hilda” (Moody) Wilson.

Beth was a beloved mother, aunt, sister, and lifelong resident of Kittery, Maine. She was a steadfast presence in the community and will be remembered for her profound dedication to helping others, her positive attitude, and her favorite color, purple.

Beth was a proud graduate of Traip Academy, class of 1967, and earned her master’s degree from Gorham State College (USM) in 1972. Beth returned to her alma mater in 1974 to begin an impactful career of 36 years as a guidance counselor. Throughout her years at Traip Academy, she was more than an educator; she was an advocate, mentor, and trusted guide for countless students. She started the Leadership Resilience Program (LRP) at Traip, which was a place for students to talk openly about issues as well as build strong friendships and leadership skills. She worked tirelessly to provide a safe space where they could find solace and understanding. One of her fondest memories was a kayaking trip she organized for a group of students, a testament to her belief in the importance of community and connection beyond the classroom.

Beth cherished her long family history in Kittery, floating in the water and kayaking on Mousam Lake in the summer. She was happiest watching her grandson, nieces, and nephews play basketball, always their biggest fan and supporter.

She is survived by her beloved son, Luke, his partner, Kristen, and their son, Reese; her two brothers, Rick Wilson of Nokomis, FL/Waterboro, ME, and Jeff Wilson and his wife Beth of Williston, VT. She will also be remembered fondly by her nieces Sarah and Katie and her nephew Jackson. Her memory will be held dear by many friends and former students whose lives she touched throughout the years.
