I knew Rick as long as I knew Reed. The three of us would always be getting into some kind of trouble! When Reed died Rick and I grieved together. After that Rick was more like a brother, even though he lived in Colorado and I live in Oregon. We saw each other as often as we could. In fact the last time I saw him was in Portland, taking him to the airport. That was a couple of years before he passed away. We talked on the phone regularly, and I talked to him about ten days before he died. He seemed fine, but told me he had been feeling ill the last few days. I didn`t think anything of it.
