Renee Martin died either in 1973 or 1974 - I don't remember the exact year as she was a good friend of mine and her passing is something I've tried to forget as she died tragically and at a young age. She was on a camping trip with Bob Anderson and Dennis Logreco. I was supposed to be on the camping trip with them, but at the last minute I went out with my boyfriend instead. My boyfriend's last name happened to be Martin, also. I spent the night at his home, and early the next morning the police called my boyfriend's mother's house, and asked to speak with her. I had answered the phone and explained she'd just returned from work (she was a nurse at Verdugo Hills in the ICU, and worked the night shift). The police insisted that I get her as her daughter had been killed in a car accident. I questioned the police as I knew where my boyfriedn's sister was at that time. The police reiterated that her daughter "Renee" has been killed in an accident. I explained that she didn't have a daughter named Renee, and told the police they had called the wrong Mrs. Martin. I had no idea that it was my friend Renee Martin at the time of the call. I returned home that day at around noon, and my parent's informed me that Renee had been in a terrible car accident up in Angeles Crest National Forest. Bob Anderson suffered a head injury, not serious, Dennis Logreco broke his back, and had serious injuries, and Renee died from massive head trauma as her car rolled down a cliff her head was crushed as her upper body was flung out the dirvers side window (no seat belts back then). She died far too young, and was an incredibly beautiful and loving friend. I still miss her all these years later. Rest in peace, Renee, you were gone far too soon.
