Carol J. (Rutz) Hillyer, 55, of West Salem died in her home May 29, 2004.

Carol was born in La Crosse on Sept. 6, 1948 to Lawrence and Mina (Torgerson)) Rutz.  On May 27, 1972, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hillyer.  Carol had a variety of work experiences, in which her most recent employment was at Ivy and Lace, where she enjoyed working with people.

Carol loved her family and enjoyed the outdoors and nature, especially gardening.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and always had a way of making everyone feel special.

Carol is survived by one son, Aaron (Kelly) Hillyer; one daughter, Monika (Barry) Loging; and two sisters, Therese (Don) Pedretti of Holmen WI and Pat Searle of Onalaska. 

Her husband, grandparents, parents and nephew, Kevin, preceded her in death.

Father Delbert Malin officiated her funeral services and she was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to many throughout her life, especially her lifelong friend Mary Ellen Nesseth.  She will be deeply missed by many.
