Kim Eugene Fry

Kim Fry, 30, of 1514 George St., died on April 11, 1981 in a one-car accident on Bahr Road in the town of Greenfield. He was born on July 30, 1950, to Eugene and Charlotte Fry of La Crosse.

He was a 1968 graduate of Central High School where he was a star athlete. He was captain of the wrestling team and a city and Big Rivers Conference champion for two years. He finished fourth and fifth in two trips to the state wrestling championships. He also was a city and Big Rivers champion in pole vaulting and finished fourth in state competition one year.

He had served two years in the navy and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1977 with a degree in recreation. He obtained his commercial pilot’s license and instrument rating in 1980. He married Ann Hinytzke in La Crosse on May 22, 1976.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; his father, Eugene; a sister, Mrs. Kevin (Byrn) Meil of Holmen; and his maternal grandfather, George Coburn of Winona. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the English Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steffan Guttormsson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Sletten-McKee-Hanson Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
