
Stanley (Corky) L. Hanson, 65, of Sun City passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at home surrounded by his wife, Kathy Jo, and brother, Kevin Hanson.
Corky was born Feb. 2, 1950, son to the late Milton and Audrey (Allen) Hanson of La Crosse. He entered the U.S. Army in 1970 and served as a combat engineer.
Corky started his career with Black Mountain Gas in Cave Creek, Ariz., and prior to his retirement was a 20 plus employee with Arizona Corporation Commission/Pipeline Safety. He was an audit inspector and inspected underground natural gas, oil, gasoline and propane lines. Corky thoroughly enjoyed traveling for his job.
He loved the Green Bay Packers and never missed watching a game in his “Packers Cave.” Corky loved his large Hanson family and will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Jo; stepdaughter, Heather; his mother-in-law, Marty Mitchell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nine siblings, brothers, Greg (Marie) Hanson, Vic (Stella) Hanson, Joe (Char Lou) Hanson, Ken Hanson, Kevin (Evelyn) Hanson, Kert (Roxanne) Hanson, sisters, Betsy (Fritz) Grewe, Mary (Pete) Olson, Karen (Mark) Kohlwey; brother-in-law, Alton Papenfuss; his very special aunt, Arvilla Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law; parents, Milton and Audrey Hanson; brother, Allen Hanson; his loving sister, Patricia Papenfuss; special uncle and namesake, Stanley Allen.
A private family memorial was held in the spring 2016.
