
Jerry R. Schultz, 44, of 3358 East Ave., La Crosse, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 1994 in University Hospital, Madison.
He was born Mar. 17, 1950 in La Crosse to Howard “Howie” and Hazel (Hanson) Schultz. He married Sharon A. Hicke July 5, 1968 in La Crosse. Jerry worked with his father in the family business, Howie’s Hof Brau, in La Crosse for many years. He purchased the business when, due to ill health, his father retired. Jerry was a member of the La Crosse Tavern League and the Concordia Aid Society.
Jerry had a love of nature and spent many enjoyable times with his family and friends in the family cottage on Chaney Lake in Upper Michigan. Education was a major concern in Jerry’s life and in the last eight years he had been working for his degree in Elementary Education at Viterbo College.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by a daughter, Sara (Jon) Erickson of La Crosse; a son, Cory of La Crosse; his grandson, Hans Erickson of La Crosse; his mother, Hazel, of Holmen; a sister, Jean (Paul) Sullivan of Holmen; a brother, James (Sharon) Schultz of Onalaska; three aunts, Shirley Briese, Dorothy Stringham, and Margaret Coleman; an uncle, Harry Schultz; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Greene.
Jerry had a special interest in children and found great joy in his relationship with his children as well as with his grandson, Hans.
A memorial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home-La Crosse. Dr. Larry A. Moody will officiate. His body will be cremated, with the cremains to be buried in Mormon Coulee Park Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the Leukemia Society of America, Wisconsin Chapter.
