
James W. Wewerka, 51, of Eau Claire died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001.
He was born July 31, 1950, in Mankato, Minn., to Joseph and Barbara (Clements) Wewerka. James, a graduate of Viterbo University of La Crosse, was a practicing anesthetist in the Neillsville, Wis., and Eau Claire areas for the past 14 years.
He was a loving husband and father to his wife, Jaynee (Backaus); sons, Parker and Grant; and mother, Barbara, all of Eau Claire; brother, Case (Kathy) of La Crosse; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph.
A memorial Mass for James will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Norbert Wilger officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends one hour before the Mass at the church.
Interment will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis; Section 16, Site 905, US ARMY, SP4, VIETNAM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the James Wewerka Memorial Scholarship at Viterbo University, 815 S. Ninth St., La Crosse, WI 54601. The Prock Funeral Home, Eau Claire, is serving the family.

I miss him. I worked with him in Neillsville and he was a friend to everyone. He had dedicated his life to the work he did at the hospital, and was loved by all his co-workers. He died in a tragic fire. It was so sad. Kay Alland Shay
