I really thought a lot of this guy! He was a royal cut up but always fun...always had a big smile...he played a wild prank on me when I had him in US History..but saved my hide later regarding it..I will never forget last I saw him...I asked him to come to church and he did...hardly a days goes by that I don't think of him...
What a fun guy! I'm not sure how, but we wound up being friends. I always thought he was cute and he LOVED playing baseball. We used to write notes to each other, he called them our "love notes" and I kept a couple of them. He wrote me a letter just a couple of weeks before our 10 year reunion. He was so excited about the prospect of seeing all of our classmates again and catching up with everyone. Then, just a few days after that letter came, I received a phonecall, notifying me of his death. I was devastated! He would not be able to attend the reunion and we would never see him or talk to him again. I know that he had some issues (who didn't) and that his issues grew as time past, but, I didn't know THAT Darryl, and so I will only carry the happy memories with me, because that was the Darryl I knew. In loving memory of my friend, Darryl Pendergraft.
Darryl was a fun guy and an awesome baseball player. I think all the girls had a crush on him. He always made me laugh. I was so sad to hear the tragic news.

Darryl was funny and unassuming, but above all, he was kind. I will remember.
