Scott and I went went to kindergarten together, then high school, played football together, and ended up joining the Air Force at the same time. The last time I saw him was in 1981 when I passed him at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. I had heard he was there, but the chances of us bumping into each other WHERE we bumped into each other was astronomical. It broke my heart to learn how he had died.
Scott was my first cousin and a true friend. He would do anything to help out. He always had a way of making me see the funnier things in serious situations. He could make me laugh so hard!! I miss him. Scott had 8 beautiful children. We always stayed in touch. A few days before, I was walking downtown Chattanooga on my break and he was with the construction crew he was working with, and he hollered at me. I ran up to the curb to holler back. He said he couldn't stop "but I love you cuz!" In the same week, he was on a job assignment to demolish a wall on Broad Street in Chattanooga. The wall was unsecured and it fell on him and killed him.
