Richard Thomas Arne, a resident of Mount Shasta, passed away on March 21, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta. He was 62.
Richard was born in Los Angeles, California on December 11, 1944 to Robert and Melba [Bennett] Arne.
Richard and his family moved to Oakland from North Hollywood in 1954 where he graduated from Acalanes High School Class of 1958[sic]. He then obtained his BA from San Francisco State Class of 1968.
In 1977 he moved to Siskiyou County. He received his Master’s degree in Political Science from Southern Oregon University in 1990.
Richard was a loving and devoted father and was a friend to many. He was an avid advocate for the homeless and his motto was, “There but for fortune, go you or I.”
Richard is survived by his children, two sons, Anello Arne of Redding and Shamin Arne of Henderson, Nevada; a daughter, Kiva Arne of Mount Shasta; two grandchildren, Quinten Trent and Avonlea Joella Arne both of Henderson, Nevada;  and a sister, Judy Peterson of Lasquite Island, British Colombia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Melba Arne of Dunsmuir.
No services are scheduled at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Amnesty International.
Arrangements were made by Girdner Funeral Chapel.
