Sharon has notified me that he died April 23 of this year. We are awaiting an obituary. He does have a Facebook page that mentions being hospitalized for carbon dioxide poisoning late last year.
Gary was my best friend at Acalanes...my longest life friend. We did everything together with our little group of 'rat pack' misfits...good times, bad times, boredom, excitement, all together...as Bob Seeger sang "Tryin' to lose the awkward teenage blues" ! We joined the Army in the Summer of '62 after graduating. We were going to join on the "Buddy Program"...he went ahead but, I met a girl and delayed 'til August..he never quite forgave me for that ! I never lived in Lafayette again..Gary made Concord his home...married Marilyn and raised a fine family. He/they always had an open door and a place in their home for me when I would visit the area...usually for Reunions and such. Gary was a GOOD man...a GOOD friend...and I will miss you, Buddy ! R.I.P.
