Kathleen Lewis was a lifelong resident of the East Bay, including Lafayette, Moraga, Walnut Creek, and eventually Concord where she lived until her passing. She was born in Oakland, California to Eleanor Barbara Lewis and Thomas Bernard Lewis who both preceded her in death. Kathleen was a lifelong educator and principal of 40 years for both the parochial schools of the Catholic Diocese of Oakland and the Berkeley Unified School District. She was adored by the children she taught and those she shepherded through their elementary years at Oxford School in Berkeley. She helped to create supportive, nurturing, and compassionate environments for children. She had deep pride and enduring love for her students, who cherished her. Kathleen lived her life serving others, and her warmth, empathy, and kindness were well-known and admired. Kathleen was generous in spirit and time and made donations to countless various charities. She loved the novella, The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. A favorite quote of Kathleen's from The Little Prince, "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye", describes how Kathleen lived her life: seeing all things with unconditional love. Kathleen will be dearly missed by her family. A celebration of life and a memorial mass is planned for the near future. In lieu of flowers, Kathleen requested that donations be made to Northern Light School, 3710 Dorisa Avenue, Oakland, California 94605.
