Terry Parsons, fifty-eight, born January 8th, 1945 in Oakland, California to Marjorie and Jim Parsons, passed away at Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez, Friday evening, January 17, 2003, after and extended bout with cancer. Terry lived most of his life in the Bay Area, graduating from Acalanes High School in 1962, and later from Chico State University. Terry was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Viet Nam conflict, and earned a bronze medal for service efficiency during his term of service. Terry married Phyllis Kappmeyer in 1970, and together they raised three children, Brandy, Brian and Brittany.
Terry is remembered for his lasting sense of humor and his immense love of family and friends. During his life Terry fostered an appreciation for fishing the bays, rivers and lakes of Northern California. An avid reader and superb chef, over the latter two years of his life Terry also enjoyed playing bocce ball and shuffleboard as a member of the Moose Lodge #1164 in Martinez. His enjoyment of work and hobbies was exceeded only by his love for his family. He garnered much pleasure from his children capped in 2002, with the birth of beautiful Isabella, his first grandchild. Terry is remembered as a supportive and loving son, brother, father and grandfather. His positive outlook, contagious laughter, and unfailing good humor will be missed, but never forgotten, by his family and friends.
