Sue Stone

Sharon JONES Fraetis

Sue knew cancer would claim her life and she went around the country saying good bye to as many friends as she could in 1999.  She caught up with my sister and me in Anaheim after we got off a cruise ship,  We had a motel across from Disneyland and Sue joined us there for a short stay.  She had a book with her, as usual,  and  sat and read her book in Disneyland as we went on the rides.

I will never forget the day she died.  I had just been notified that I was being given a full early retirement from Kaiser Aluminum when her sister called to say she had passed.  That evening a car rearended me on Deerhill Road and totaled my vehicle.  A bad day all around.   Sue was hoping to last long enough to see her first grandchild born.  The child was born a couple of months later and when Virginia called to tell me, I cried, thinking of how hard she fought to be there.  I miss Sue and think of her often.
