I had been friends with Troy since 2nd grade and lived very close to him. In fact, our mother's graduated from Jeff together. To set the record straight, Troy passed away following an airplane accident in January of 1989.
I don't know the exact date, but I do remember that Troy died mid-way through junior year, so I'm sure Christina and Brett are correct with January. I know this because he was my brother Neil's best friend, so it is a pretty strong, and sad, memory.
Yes Troy passed away in January 1989 in a small plane accident along with one of his friends and his friends' father who was flying the plane. We were on winter break and I remember getting the paper that morning and seeing his name in the obituaries. He sat right behind me in English so that seat was very empty when we got back to school after winter break.
