Derek, yesterday I heard the song "I Can See Clearly Now" and I could see you so clearly, singing up in front of our fourth grade class. I'm sad that you are gone, and I thank you for bringing goodness into this world while you were here.

So many memories and life lessons I want to thank you for, but, the most important lesson you taught me was to be tolerant of people, I have appreciated that gift everyday. You were loved and I will be eternally grateful for your friendship.

Deric,

It was a shock to hear that you had been taken from us.  I didnt even know until about 9 years after you'd passed.  My mind has fallen upon you several times over the years. I seem to take the news of someone's death so hard. But lately I have decided to think about death as just walking into another room. Nothing to fear, not if you are Child of God; like I know that you were.

God bless you my brother.
