Kent Ackley

Kent Ackley

Tom Gaines has informed us that Kent Ackley has died.  "Our classmate and my Dear Friend KENT ACKLEY passed away 27 February 2025. Kent and I knew each other since third grade at Gorton School. We served together in Vietnam. Kent and I were able to see each other over the years and had a great trip to Scotland to visit his family origins. I will miss him greatly. Cheers my Good Friend."

We have not found an obituary for Kent, but his wife Sylvia posted the following on her Facebook page:

"One week ago Monday, I brought the love of my life back to 1688 Gentle Way knowing that he had maybe  two to three days to live. He made it three days (Kent was hanging in there because he was afraid that I would fall apart). He slipped away while no one was looking at 3:35 am on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

It was a longtime coming. He fought the good fight for 20 years with Agent Orange Parkinson. I didn’t post anything on Facebook because so many people had blocked or stopped reading me as in the Dr. Seuss saying:
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who MIND don’t matter, and those who matter don’t MIND.”

We have become a divided house/nation lacking in peace, love and understanding of other people’s opinions without the presumption of GRACE (God’s Riches At Christ’s Expenses). Brother against brother; sister against sister, etc So sad!

So if you want to say “I’m sorry for your loss” your condolences will be gladly accepted. Please include a request to be included in The Nationwide Scattering of Kent’s Ashes Tour. We have so many friends that loved us and “those who matter don’t MIND” silliness.
I will gladly help you say goodbye since many of you couldn’t attend the service
🥲🥲🥲 It was beautiful!
So now begins the next chapter of my life. Even though that I have worked with Donna E. Lane for over 20 years…on ambiguous grief. Still jarring with unbelief whether quick or long suffering. Only the Lord gets to pick.
So in conclusion, look for Kent’s ashes in a location near you. I promise that I won’t stay long as fish and house guests smell after 3 days. God bless 🙏🙏🙏
AND to God be the glory!!!!!"
