Steven Patrick Schweich (3/17/1961 - 11/30/2024)
Steve Schweich, 63, tragically died on November 30, 2024 from injuries suffered in a car accident.
Steve was born March 17,1961 in Farmington, MN.
He attended All Saints Catholic School, Lakeville Jr & Sr High public schools (graduated in 1979), and attended some classes at Dakota County Vo-Tech.
He lived in the country in Lakeville, MN. He was a feral child that loved to be outdoors. He could be found at either at grandpa’s farm next door, in the woods hunting, fishing, building something, or taking apart some engine or car (eventually putting it back together).
Steve joined the Air Force in 1980. He was stationed at Nellis Air Force base in Nevada. During his time there, he mastered his passion for mechanics.
He resided in Las Vegas and was a member of Local 12 Operators and Engineers and had many positions as heavy equipment mechanics in Nevada, Montana, Idaho and North Dakota.
He met his current wife Linda in Las Vegas and they were married in Minnesota in 2003.
Steve and Linda purchased property in Riggins, Idaho in 2004 to be able to build their dream home some day. And knowing Steve, he got a really good deal on that property. He loved shopping, and he was good at finding those bargains and deals.
They made the move to Riggins in Feb 2013 and quickly became part of the small community. In 2013, their granddaughter Raydin was welcomed to live with them in Riggins. And “Grandpa” embraced this role with a newfound passion. He loved his family.
Steve loved the 20-acre homestead they were building. A homestead with a river that ran through it. He loved to fish and hunt. This was their little piece of heaven. The farm includes dogs, chickens, ducks, sheep, horses, and an orchard with pistachio trees (making him the only pistachio farmer in Idaho). And Steve had lots “toys”. Toys for work and toys for play. And he played as hard as he worked.
Steve also loved his travels back to Minnesota and Nevada, and had adventures to Hawaii, Arizona, Bahamas, and the West coast. His dream was to go to Iceland and Alaska.
Steve is survived by his wife Linda, granddaughter Raydin, mother Marian Schweich, sister Kathy Brilz, niece LeAnn, cousins, many dear friends, and the community of Riggins.
Steve will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love of family, friends, community, and country.
In honor of Steve, do what Steve did, pay it forward and help someone in need.

Very sad to hear about Steve and his family. Glad I was fortunate to have some nice conversation with Steve at the reunion.
