Edward Tank - Lansing MI

 

Born Edward Felton Tank to parents Edward Raymond and Wilma Louise (Felton) Tank in Lansing, Michigan on February 8, 1942, Edward died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

Ed graduated from Eastern High School in 1960 and married Cynthia Louise Vanwelsenaere on January 11, 1964, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, East Lansing Michigan. Ed and Cindy lived in Lansing, Michigan, Wilmington, NC (Winters) and 8 Point Lake, Lake, Michigan (Summers). Physically very active, Ed enjoyed golfing with friends, cruising the lake on “Sweet Misery”, restoring wooden boats, running 5ks, 10ks, and half marathons with Rob Stanley (nephew), he swam regularly and worked tirelessly around the apartments. He enjoyed boat rides, snacks and a beer with family and friends. Ed was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas, Clare Kiwanis, and Coast Guard Auxiliary. He loved his wife, provided for his family, and was a good friend. Ed was a gentle man with a giant heart who loved his family immensely. He was not a man of many words, but if you were fortunate enough to be a part of his inner circle, you understood his gifts and love for others.

Ed is survived by wife Cindy of 8 Point Lake, Daughter Kristin M. Smith of Saginaw, Son Edward M. and (Andrea) Tank of North Carolina; Grandchildren: Noreen Smith & Fiancé Eliot Dunsmore of Flint, Connor Smith of Saginaw, Abigail Tank, Olivia Tank & Edward Elijah Tank of North Carolina; and great-grandchild Clyde Eliot Dunsmore; brother Jim (Judy) Tank of Indianapolis, Sisters-In-Law: Candy Joy of East Lansing, Teresa (Ken) Ouellette of Haslett, Ginny Joy of Williamston, Brothers-In-Law: John Joy of Haslett, Jim (Kathy) Joy of Williamston, Michael (Tiffanie) Joy of Williamston, Patrick (Tina) Joy of Arizona and many cousins, nieces & nephews. Ed was predeceased by parents, his sister Sherill Thomas, Brothers-In-Law Jeff Joy and Scott Joy. Until we are all together again, crickets Dad.

The visitation and Rosary will be Thursday, June 6th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 1730 East Grand River Avenue, East Lansing. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas, 955 Alton Road, East Lansing, on Friday, June 7, 2024, (Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) at 11:00 a.m. with visitation before Mass at 10:00. Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/c/outreachmass Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following Mass at Brookshire Inn and Golf Club, 205 West Church Street, Williamston, Michigan.
